Since the 1980’s, the tribe has grown tremendously to become a growing and prospering community that is a key driving force for the Central Upper Peninsula. Verso Corporation is a leading North American producer of specialty and graphic papers, packaging and pulp. The Escanaba Mill began operating in 1891 as the Escanaba Electric Street Railway Company before the Escanaba Pulp and Paper Company was organized.
